Celebration of World Children's Day within the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the State Parliament will open its doors for a special event - the Democracy Tour. This unique day is filled with interactive exhibitions, activities, and workshops designed to engage and educate children and families about the importance of democracy.

One of the highlights of the day will be the presentation of the state parliament's first Pixi book titled "Night in the Parliament" by André Kuper, President of the parliament. The Pixi book, set to be freely distributed to families, makes democracy tangible for the youngest, teaching them about conflict resolution and the significance of every voice in a democratic society.

The story in the Pixi book features a parliament of animals, each discussing and resolving conflicts in a parliamentary setting. This imaginative approach makes learning about democracy fun and engaging for children.

In addition to the Pixi book, various other exhibitions will be present. "Our Voice Counts!" by the Children's Rights Association, "SpaceBuzz One" and "School_Lab" by the German Aerospace Center, and an exhibition from WDR's Fake News module are just a few examples.

Interactive activities include a Kiddy-Fun playmobile, drawing, crafting, and stamping stations, a children's lucky wheel offering small prizes, and a "Find Helene" rally. There will also be a NRW puzzle and dice game, face painting, and Kampi and Puppet Paul teaching children first aid.

A guestbook for children and a digital guestbook are available for visitors to leave their thoughts and experiences from the day. The Mouse and Shaun the Sheep will also be at the event, adding to the fun-filled atmosphere.

The parliament will be open from 12 pm to 6 pm, providing ample time for families to explore and participate in the various activities. The Democracy Tour promises to be an enlightening and enjoyable day for all, fostering a deeper understanding of democracy among the youngest citizens.
