Celebrating the victors of the startsocial competition, Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Alexander von zur Mühlen commend their efforts at the Chancellery, demonstrating that volunteerism embodies the essence of democracy in action.
In a significant event held on June 4, 2024, at the Federal Chancellery in Berlin, several social initiatives were honoured for their contributions towards promoting democratic values and social interaction.
At the heart of the event was the recognition of Erica's Manna Mobil e.V., a charity based in Wiesbaden that provides free, hot meals to over 80 young people from more than 60 different countries every school day. Alexander von zur Mühlen, a member of our website's management board, presented the honour on behalf of our organisation.
The startsocial competition, a main partner of our website for over 10 years, has been instrumental in supporting numerous initiatives like Erica's Manna Mobil e.V. Since 2012, employees of our website have been actively involved, supporting over 1,300 initiatives in the competition.
This year, the startsocial competition awarded 100 four-month scholarships to initiatives that tackle social challenges with volunteers. The competition typically opens its application round in the early part of the year, with deadlines usually falling around March or April. However, for the most accurate and current information about the deadline for applying for a scholarship in the 2024 startsocial competition in Germany, it is best to check directly on the official startsocial website or their official announcement pages.
Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz was the patron of the startsocial competition and also presented a special award to Weilburg erinnert e.V., a charity from Weilburg in Hesse. Weilburg erinnert e.V. is committed to an active culture of remembrance and commemoration in memory of the victims of the Nazi regime and works against racism and antisemitism.
Three of our website colleagues were active as coaches for the winning initiatives in the current competition, and they are delighted that their volunteering efforts made a real impact on society.
The 25 most convincing initiatives were invited to Berlin and received awards totalling 35,000 euros to enhance their projects. The startsocial competition works with experts from business, the public sector, and non-profits to develop organisations, projects, and ideas.
In the past 17 years, 178,000 young guests have benefited from Erica's Manna Mobil e.V.'s initiative, and the startsocial competition continues to make a difference in the lives of many more.
In light of the 2024 startsocial competition's recognition of Erica's Manna Mobil e.V., it's essential to highlight the organization's dedication to personal growth and education-and-self-development, offering free hot meals to young people from diverse backgrounds, fostering a multicultural lifestyle. Furthermore, the startsocial competition, consistently supporting initiatives like Erica's Manna Mobil e.V., also encourages and facilitates personal growth and democratic values through their scholarship program.
