celebrates the conclusion of holidays with children from Greifswald, author of "The three question marks"
Greifswald, September 17, 2025 – Today marks a special day for the city's young readers as the closing event of the summer project "Ferienleselust" takes place at St. Spiritus. This annual initiative, which has been running since 2010, aims to foster a love for reading among 4th to 6th-grade students during their summer holidays.
This year, over 300 students from Greifswald participated in the project, collectively reading nearly 1,400 books. This impressive achievement sets a new record and demonstrates the enthusiasm and dedication of the young readers.
The project is not solely funded by one entity but is a collaborative effort. The city of Greifswald, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Friends of the City Library, the Rostock specialist office, and the Soroptimists of Greifswald are among the organisations involved in making this project possible.
The highlight of the event will be the awarding of the "Owl" traveling trophy to the most avid reading school. This year, the Carl-von-Ossietzky School in Greifswald will take home the prize.
The event will also feature a book show with renowned author Christian Friedrich, who is best known for his "Three Investigators" series. Students will receive certificates for their reading achievements and celebrate with juice and cake.
We encourage all young readers to continue their love for books and look forward to next year's "Ferienleselust" with excitement.
