Moventia's Origin Contracting Program Addresses Skilled Labour Shortage in Spain

In an effort to address the shortage of qualified professionals, particularly in the bus driving and workshop sectors, Moventia has launched the 'Origin Contracting' program. This initiative, aimed at academic stay contracting of Peruvian youth in Baix Empordà, Girona, received the support of local authorities and business leaders during a recent event.

Attended by the mayors of Begur and Palafrugell, Maite Selva and Laura Millan, respectively, as well as the president of the Palamós Chamber, Pol Fages, the event also welcomed the Human Resources Director of Moventia, Marga Pedreira, and the manager of Moventis Costa Brava, Enric Gimeno. The Generalitat's Social Rights and Inclusion Minister, Monica Martinez, was also in attendance.

Martinez praised the Origin Contracting program, stating that it is about employment, inclusion, and addressing demographic and labor challenges with a social perspective. The program statement was made by Moventia and the Palamós Chamber in Girona on Tuesday.

Since its inception in 2022, Moventia has incorporated over 200 professionals through this system, including drivers, mechanics, and workshop technicians. The company aims to reach 239 incorporated professionals by the end of 2025.

The Origin Contracting program includes technical training, customer service, learning Catalan, real practices, and knowledge of the territory. Moventia's goal is to expand recruitment geographically within Spain to cover a broader labor market and meet increasing transport demand. By doing so, they aim to enhance operational capacity and service reliability in public transport networks.
