Approval granted for PHP10 million funding towards construction of school buildings
In a significant move to address the growing demand for quality education, the Cebu Provincial Board has approved a resolution to allocate P10 million for the construction of new school buildings at the Moalboal Tourism Management Integrated National High School (MTMINHS) in Moalboal, Cebu.
The resolution, filed by PB Member Paz Rozgoni of the 7th District, was authored in relation to Article 14 of the 1987 Constitution, which emphasises the State's responsibility to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels.
The funds, requested from Governor Pamela Baricuatro, are intended for building school buildings for the MTMINHS. The resolution also states that copies of the approved resolution will be forwarded to the Governor, the Provincial Budget Office, and the Provincial Planning and Development Office for their appropriate action.
The growing number of enrollees at MTMINHS are currently temporarily using space at the Balabagon Elementary School. The new school buildings are expected to address the need for more classrooms and decongest the school in Barangay Balabagon.
It is important to note that, at present, there is no documented evidence or reported news about this specific P10 million allocation from the Cebu Provincial Government for the construction project at Moalboal Tourism Management Integrated National High School. However, it is worth mentioning that Board Member Rozgoni's husband, Hans, donated the lot to establish the school subject to a Deed of Usufruct for 50 years with the DepEd.
The MTMINHS is one of five public secondary schools in Moalboal. The Department of Education granted a permit to establish the junior and senior high school that operates the MTMINHS on April 19, 2023.
This development underscores the commitment of the Cebu Provincial Government to ensuring quality education for all its citizens, particularly in areas with increasing demand for educational facilities. The construction project is expected to contribute significantly to the educational landscape of Moalboal and the surrounding communities.
The resolution, approved by the Cebu Provincial Board, is a step taken by the government to ensure quality education by allocating P10 million for the construction of new school buildings at the Moalboal Tourism Management Integrated National High School (MTMINHS), enhancing the education-and-self-development opportunities in Cebu. This commitment to educational facilities is a significant move towards meeting the growing demand for quality education in the region.
