The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has released the syllabus for Class 12 Arts for the academic year 2025-26, and it is now available for free download on the official website. The syllabus for Paper 1: Drawing or Painting from Still Life involves a group of objects, both artificial and natural, such as cut flowers, fruits, vegetables, a growing plant, and domestic or other artificial objects. Paper 2: Drawing or Painting from Nature is divided into two separate sections, A and B. Section A focuses on the structure of natural forms, while Section B requires a subject to be set for drawing or painting outdoors. Paper 3: Drawing or Painting of a Living Person offers two alternatives, one for a full figure and another for a study of the head but may include the arms and hands. Paper 4: Original Imaginative Composition in Colour is a test of original work, where candidates are required to execute a composition based on a list of alternative subjects given a week before the examination.
Paper 6: Crafts 'B' is restricted to school candidates and requires at least one and not more than two examples of Craftwork executed during the school year in any one craft from eight categories, such as pottery, sculpture, cloth or rug design, dyeing, embroidery, mosaic, collage, puppet or marionette making, prints, and local crafts. Paper 5: Crafts 'A' requires the design and execution of items such as the page of a book, book cover, or endpapers; a notice or pictorial poster; a card such as a Christmas card, or invitation card, or an emblem; a patterned paper for a specific purpose.
