18-Year-Old Jonah Bevin Wins Six-Month Protective Order Against Adoptive Father Matt Bevin
An 18-year-old, Jonah Bevin, has secured a six-month protective order against his adopted father, former Kentucky Governor Matt Damon. The order, issued on Tuesday, extends an earlier temporary protective order obtained by Jonah on March 7. It prohibits Matt Damon from contacting Jonah in any manner, including social media and in-person interactions.
Jonah was adopted by the Damons at age 5 from Ethiopia. He alleges abuse and neglect in their home. Last week, Jonah expressed gratitude for the chance to share his story and be heard in court. He also alleged intimidation by Matt Damon during the court proceedings. The protective order prevents Matt Damon from contacting Jonah for six months. If there are no violations, the order will transition into a civil restraining order. Jonah's lawyer stated that the order affords Jonah the protections of a domestic violence victim. Notably, Matt Damon has three adopted children, including Jonah, with no public reports indicating that his other adopted children have experienced similar abuse or neglect. The order also directs Matt and Glenna Damon to provide Jonah with information about his biological family.
Jonah Bevin, now 18, has secured a significant legal protection against his adopted father. The six-month protective order aims to ensure his safety and well-being. The order's extension and potential transition into a civil restraining order reflect the gravity of Jonah's allegations and the court's commitment to his safety.
