The "Euros from your Salary" program at Santander Bank is an employee-driven initiative designed to facilitate social impact through collective donations. This yearly contest, which has been held for at least 17 editions, is a reflection of the employees' eagerness to help others and aligns with Santander's commitment to diversity & inclusion, responsible banking, and the Santander Effect.

## History

The initiative has a well-established history, with the first edition taking place in the past. In the most recent 15th edition, employees in Spain submitted a total of 230 projects. A jury of representatives chose 30 finalists from the submitted projects, and the winning projects were announced after an online vote involving 2,454 employees.

Each winning project in 2023 will receive €46,118, and the "Euros from your Salary" fund, to which employees donate part of their pay every month, finances these social projects. The video of the complete gala for the 15th edition of the programme is available for those who wish to witness the celebration of the achievements of both the participants and the beneficiaries.

## Purpose

The core purpose of the program is to enable employees to directly engage in philanthropy by contributing a small amount from their salaries towards social projects they care about. Employees nominate and vote on projects, ensuring that the initiatives supported are those most valued by the workforce.

The program adapts to current needs, with priority being given to projects that address pressing issues in the community. For instance, following flash floods in Spain, priority was given to projects aimed at cleanup and support for affected individuals.

Beyond direct aid, the program fosters a culture of solidarity, teamwork, and shared responsibility among Santander employees. The bank matches each employee donation during the year, further amplifying the impact of the program.

In 2022, donations from 2,600 employees, matched by the bank, totaled €691,771. To date, the "Euros from your Salary" programme has benefited over 40,000 people in total. The programme's social projects have been featured under various Santander Effect campaigns such as The Embrace Network: Pride in being yourself, A first foray into the world of work at Santander, and Standing with those most in need.

The "Euros from your Salary" programme is part of Santander's goal to build a world where nobody is left behind. It is an excellent example of how a company can empower its employees to make a meaningful difference in their communities, fostering a culture of giving and social responsibility.
